In essence, they own the land and secure leases to drill for oil and gas
Synopsis
A modern tale of finding your fortune on the world of West Texas oil rigs. Watch the most popular movies and TV shows by writer/director Taylor Sheridan on IMDb, ranked by user ratings. A landowner, at least one who works in the oil industry, will act as an intermediary between exploration companies and landowners. Typically, a landowner’s job is to negotiate and finalize deals with landowners who hold mineral rights to lease those rights to the company they represent.

As foremen on a construction site, they build roads, man-camps, assemble excavators, and drill the wells themselves, especially in remote areas. They also serve as fixer, troubleshooter, and helper. It’s a TV formula, but written by a writer who will be remembered decades from now as Norman Lear is today. The difference here seems to be geography.
Oil industry accuracy issues?
This is another niche western show, with brilliant marketing paired with great performances by top-notch actors. Apparently. Not suited to mother-daughter-father family dynamics? YES.
Larter gives top performances and looks phenomenal
Does that mean things don’t work out as they should in real life? No matter, it’s dynamic and fun to watch. Thornton is destined for the role, although I’ve read it was originally written for him. Lots of great stuff, except one oddity: Demi Moore, who is in all 10 episodes.
If not, I’ll be curious to know what it is
I’ve seen all 5 episodes so far and, unless she’s the only one, I only recall seeing and hearing from her once, in her pool, briefly. Hamm’s character is also not seen much, but she acted well and embodies her character, although Moore is not allowed to add anything yet. Maybe it’s written that way and she will have a role in later episodes.
